Overview
WordBridge is designed to help ESL learners study vocabulary naturally as they browse the web. We take privacy seriously and collect no personal data from users.
What We Collect
- Local Storage: All flashcards, saved words, and settings (such as native language) are stored locally in your browser using
chrome.storage.local. - Highlighted Text Flashcards, saved words, and language settings are stored only on your device.
What We Don't Collect
- We do not collect or store personal identifiers (names, emails, etc.).
- We do not collect web history, browsing data, or analytics.
- We do not send or sell data to third parties.
External APIs
WordBridge retrieves definitions and translations from:
- FreeDictionaryAPI (sources: Wiktionary, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0)
- MyMemory Translation API for native-language translation.
These services may have their own privacy policies, which apply only when you use them via WordBridge for dictionary lookups.
Analytics
We do not use cookies, analytics, or tracking pixels. Anonymous aggregated install metrics may be collected by the Chrome Web Store itself per Google’s standard policies.
Your Control
You can clear all locally stored data anytime by clicking “Clear Deck” inside the extension. Removing the extension deletes all stored data automatically.
